Meet Shannon.

The founder of Beacon Yoga, a woman-centered business utilizing the classical teachings of Yoga for the liberation of women's health and wellbeing from all systems of oppression, Shannon dedicates herself to the re-enlightenment of the planet through spontaneous physiological birth and spiritual understanding. She became committed to the Yoga path in 2002 and has since practiced and studied with many of the great modern teachers including Swami Karunananda, Swami Ramananda, Swami Asokananda, and Sri Sonia Sumar Devi of the Integral Yoga Lineage founded by Master Sri Swami Satchidananda; Heart of Yoga's founder Mark Whitwell; Sri Dharma Mittra; Corina Benner; Biff Mithoefer founder of the Jamtse School of Yin Yoga; and Sonia Sumar, pioneer of Yoga for children with special needs. She has received certification in basic, intermediate, raja, meditation, yin, prenatal and perinatal yoga and children with special needs and teen yoga, and assisted countless yoga trainings including basic, intermediate and advanced trainings for the Integral Yoga Ashram in Virginia, Meditation Teacher Training with Swami Karunananda, and Yoga for Children with Special Needs with Sonia Sumar. She owned and operated Beacon Yoga Center in Beacon, NY from 2011-2022. However, it was not until the birth of her daughter Adelaide in 2021 that she found her current teacher in the mother, birth educator and spiritual activist Yolande Norris-Clark, with whom Shannon worked to heal birth related trauma in herself and her daughter after experiencing a highly medicalized birth. Shannon now teaches the hormonal blueprint of spontaneous physiological birth to women and families in her community and assists others in healing from birth related trauma. She lives with her husband Chris, daughter Adelaide, and dog Maple on a farm in Beacon, NY, where she sometimes paints too.

Meet Michael.

Michael was blessed to be brought up in a yoga family and began practicing asanas with his parents at the age of five. After spending many holidays at yoga retreats in New York and the Bahamas, he took a deep dive into the Ashtanga Yoga method and did his teacher training in Southern Crete in 1994. Since then Michael has been the Director of Ashtanga Yoga of New Paltz, led dozens of yoga teacher training programs, and continues to lead workshops on Anatomy, Inversions, Yoga for Seniors, and Hands-on-Adjustments. He received his 300-Hour certification at Stone Wave Yoga in 2021. Nothing makes him happier than imparting his love of yoga to students. The understanding of the Musculoskeletal system brought Michael's practice to a new level by allowing him to heal himself from old injuries and create sequences for each unique body. His classes blend traditional Hatha Yoga with Vinyasa, Restorative, Pilates, and Meditation.
